Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm water (110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg yolk, for egg wash
- Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the melted butter, egg, salt, and half of the flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually mix in the remaining flour until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a smooth ball.
- Place the dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover with a towel, and let them rise again for about 45-60 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the risen dough balls with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
- Bake the buns for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before slicing and using for your delicious hamburgers!
