Classic Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (or ground lamb, or shredded chicken)
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup fresh green beans, chopped
- 1 cup beef or chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- Butter and milk for mashed potatoes
- Grated cheddar cheese for topping
Instructions:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add the onion, garlic, carrots, and green beans, and cook until vegetables are tender.
- Stir in the broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a separate pot, prepare the mashed potatoes by mixing boiled potatoes with butter and milk until creamy.
- Spread the meat and vegetable mixture in a baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
