Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, mix the warm water and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and melted butter.
- Mix the ingredients until a dough forms, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 - 1.5 hours, until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the dough in a greased loaf pan, cover it, and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool before slicing.
