Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.
- Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or two different sized round cutters for the outer and inner circles.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pan to 375°F (190°C).

- Remove donuts with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
