Instructions:
- Divide the ground beef into equal portions and form them into balls.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat.
- Season each beef ball with salt and pepper.
- Place a ball on the skillet and immediately smash it with a spatula to flatten it into a thin patty.
- Cook for about 2 minutes until the edges start to brown and get crispy.
- Flip the patty, add cheese on top, and cook for another 1-2 minutes for medium-rare to medium doneness.
- Toast the burger buns on the skillet.
