Equipment:
Ingredients:
- 2 bone-in ribeye steaks
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (such as rosemary or thyme)
- Optional: garlic cloves
Instructions:
- 1. Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature.
- 2. Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- 3. Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it is smoking hot.
- 4. Add the steaks to the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare (adjust timing based on desired doneness). If using garlic cloves and herbs, add them to the skillet at this point.
- 5. Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet.
- 6. Once the butter has melted, tilt the skillet slightly and use a spoon to baste the steaks with the melted butter.
- 7. Continue to cook the steaks, flipping occasionally, and basting with the butter until they are cooked to your liking.
- 8. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
- 9. Optional: drizzle any remaining butter from the skillet over the sliced steaks for extra flavor.
- Enjoy your butter-basted steak!
